Snowing when I flew out of Queenstown 4th November, caught up with Finlay Neeson in Auckland and arrived Denver, Colorado same day where we continued on to Silverthorne which will be our base for the next six weeks. Perfect ski conditions next few days at Copper Mountain with Guenther Birgmann and the Sugar Bowl Academy Team. Our first week of training was at Loveland and for most of it was perfect weather, cold with most days around -15 degrees C. The high altitude (11,000 ft ) was pretty tough going initially but we have sort of adjusted now. Training is going really well with great conditions followed most days with a bit of dryland and video analysis (check out one of my sprongo training runs by clicking on the icon).
First race of the season was a giant slalom on the 15th Nov at Vail – great day, first time on this mountain! Long runs that had our hearts pumping by the finish line! 14th overall and 4th junior. Currently training with the USSA TERP Camp at Copper Mountain as well as Loveland until my next set of races which will be two slaloms at Loveland for the NorAms on 26 – 27 November, followed by two giant slalom 28 – 29 November at Aspen. Will follow up soon.
